So glad I skipped DVDHD - wish I'd waited on Blu. I'm also owner of nearly 100 LD's and I don't know how many Beta's too (no longer have a Betamax player, so the tapes are boxed-up in the basement now.) I don't even know how many VHS tapes still I have (okay - I still buy them online.) As for Blu-ray discs: I only have 3. Why? Because these Latest Blu-ray releases are priced around $30.00 or more. I don't want to be charged $30.00 for any movie anymore - I don't care what it is. Especially if I've gone to the theater to see it. (Which is why I so rarely go to the movies anymore.) Blu-ray is not economical at all, and I will suggest to anyone who hasn't gone Blu-ray yet NOT TO until these prices start coming down. I would be buying more Blu discs if they were priced the same as new DVD's. There's no reason they shouldn't be.

I'm always thinking to myself do the pro's eliminate most of the cons? No, in my opinion not, because I still love the DVD quality on my HDtv, and BR seems to be so expensive. The only real pro I can think of is the quality of Nature-documentaries on Blu-ray, that's just a-ma-zing.

ONE thing?!1. It's too expensive. 2. It requires you to buy a new TV. 3. It requires you to buy a new player. 4. Not all the studios are trying to make the movies look better. 5. The discs cost more than regular DVD. 6. It's going to take a million years for all the movies on DVD to be upgraded to Blu-Ray (and by - a million years - I mean, a lot of movies are never going to make it on DVD). 7. Bonus features that studios are not putting on regular DVD. 8. Waiting for movies to come out on Blu-Ray sucks! 9. It's Blu-Ray... Yet everyone calls it: "BD." ( Retarded!) 10. The Blu-Ray logo is ugly. There's more. I just need more time to think of them. 1. It's NOT too expensive. I have never spent more than 15 dollars on a blu-ray....and I've never got anything on sale. 2. You do NOT have to buy a new tv. Even with an old tube tv, you can appreciate the much better picture. 3. So what that you have to get a new player ? Our latest one was 80 dollars. 4. The studios DO try to make the picture look better. They just don't always get it right. 5. I don't know where you get them, but everywhere I've seen, the blu-rays don't cost more than the dvd. At least not by enough to complain about it. 6. Movies are coming out on blu-ray more and more these days. 7. Of course they put features on blu-ray that they don't put on dvd. There's features that aren't possible to have on dvd. They just wouldn't work with the smaller storage space. 8. Waiting for movies to come to blu-ray sucks ? What are you talking about ? They come to blu-ray much faster than the dvd or VHS used to come out. 9. Yes, it is called blu-ray. But it seems that you haven't noticed that the full name is Blu-ray Disc.....which is where the BD comes from. 10. The blu-ray logo is NOT ugly.

The only thing i really don't like is with some of the older movies aren't really full screen or widescreen, it's like a square in the middle of the screen with black bars on the side of the screen. It doesn't change the quality the picture is still amazing it just sucks sometimes to be watching a square. And i watch my Blu-Ray movies on a first edition Sony Blu-Ray player BDP-S300 on a old 27 Inch Zenith Tube TV.

When a movie doesn't have a menu screen. Hate navigating through special features while the movie is playing.
