Being a huge fan of the Zombie sub-genre. I was so glad to see these movies making a comeback in recent years with the Dawn of the Dead Remake, Diary of the Dead, and most recently the Walking dead series. I thought it would be cool to start a thread on fan favs. I'll list 3 of mine and I'd love to hear some of yours.
1. Night of the Living Dead (1968) Directed by George A Romero
This is the first Zombie movie I ever watched when I was young.
I always loved the fact that the people in this movie were confined to the house. To me this helped build tension. Favorite scene was when the young girl in the basement turns and attacks mommy! This movie also has one of the best endings in Horror movie history. No I won't spoil it for those that have not seen it. Rating 5 out of 5 stars
2. Return of the Living Dead (1985) Directed by Dan O'Bannon
This is the first Zombie film I saw in the theaters!!!! It showed at one of our local theaters and I was sleeping over at my buddies house. My cousin worked at the theater and left us watch this epic from the Balcony! To this day it is one my favorite movie going experiences of all time. The whole walk home we kept shouting MORE BRAINS to people passing buy!! They must have thought we were crazy, lol. Clu Gulager and James Karen were outstanding in this movie. And I loved Linnea Quigley's role as trash. Oh, and the soundtrack for this film was epic. The Cramps singing Surfin' Dead, whildst zombies are breaking into the Funeral home, gives me goosebumps every time I see it! Rating 5 out of 5 stars
3. White Zombie (1932) Directed by Victor Halperin
One of the first zombie films ever made if not the first and one of my favorites. It stars the one and only Bela Lugosi as 'Murder' Legendre a Mill Owner who raises the dead to work in his Mill (cheap Labor). A couple are lured to a plantation by a man named Beaumont to get married. It turns out Beaumont has developed a liking for the bride and wants her for himself. When his attempts at wooing her fail he turns to Murder for help! Which ends up being his biggest mistake. I won't tell you any more. Believe me when I say this Zombie classic is worth the watch! I think Robert Cummings would agree with me.... enjoy Rating 5 out of 5 stars
