I have to go with VHS. Classic, and I liked how you could rewind wherever you were at, and you could always start where you were at.

Even though I love VHS, I have to go with DVD based on the video quality. Another reason I go with DVD is the special features.

For quality and extra goodies: DVD. For pure fun & nostalgia? VHS. Stevethemovieman made a good argument for VHS: you can start wherever you left off. Older VHS tapes seem really sturdy, too. I have some tapes that have to be 20 (or more) years old and still play great. Oldest VHS tape I have? I have an old copy of "How To Beat The High Cost Of Living" in a gigantic cardboard box with a plastic insert - giant cardboard box of "Hero At Large" too. I had the original VHS and box for "Pray for Death", but some kid borrowed it and never returned it. I got lucky and found the DVD online for about $10.00 - good deal. I have a few others on VHS from back-in-the-day like Hellraiser 3, Phantasm 2, etc... so ya, VHS is cool.

Plus when Dvds skip there is usually no way to fix them unless you clean them well. The worst thing with Vhs is tape gets caught in your VCR. Still in that case you can just put a piece of tape over it. My uncle showed me how. @b0wlofmilk. Everyone says that .

duh gee let me think. DVD.
Not only is the sound and picture better but you can jump chapters, play them on a computer, navigate through menus, special features, you don't have to rewind to go back to the beginning, and with VHS you run the risk of the machine eating your tape...I choose DVD over VHS just as I would choose CD over cassette.

Depends on what it is. Some things I dont want to be in high definition. Such as The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I am strange in that I like to have as close to an authentic experience as I can get. I love going to the lexington theater when I attend scarefest to see the midnight movies because the theater is really shitty, the sound is horrible and echos and the seats are old style. Seeing 70's and 80's movies in a more authentic environment like that, theres just something about it that I dont think I could get watching them in say, imax. Something like back to the future I think would be great on blue ray. But for example, I have almost every episode of the twilight zone on vhs, i've thought about upgrading to dvd but for me theres just something about watching it on vhs. So to answer your question, each one has its place.

I go with DVD because VHS tends to fade away after watching it time after time That's why my Star Wars VHS's are like that because of watching it time after time! Plus with DVD's you get to Theatrical Trailers, Bonus Scenes and Director Commentary!

I have to go with both. Even though I buy DVD's mostly, I still buy VHS as well since I collect them.

For some reason VHS had the better sound, one of my friends and I were watching a dvd after we got done with the movie we wanted to watch one on VHS we had the sound up loud cause the the dvd was quite as soon as we put the VHS in the sound was blaring i mean a big difference. The sound was at the same place we didn't change it, it's was that big of a difference it scare the crap out of us it was so loud. For picture quality i have to say DVD same with special features and interactive menus DVD also.
