Can anybody tell me which is the better DVD to get. The new 2009 Collector's Edition, or the 2002 DVD?
I am tore because the 2009 disc has an audio commentary with original baddies David Hess, Marc Sheffler and Fred Lincoln.
But the 2002 disc has an audio commentary with writer/director Wes Craven and producer Sean S. Cunningham.
Both commentaries are intriging. I hear both discs have great BTS featurettes and documentaries.
Plus, the cover art for the 2009 disc makes it look like the remake.
But you guys tell me, which is the better disc?

Yes the 2002 disc is OOP. Maybe get both because it's $6 on Amazon and the new one is $11.

I bought that original disc the MONTH it was released back in 2002. I really wanted to see it uncut, finally. I was even able to point out almost every cut they put back in. And there weren't many. Maybe 4 or 5. There was: "Phyllis, he cut me!" (which was really disturbing, the tone of her voice was incredibly sad), "Row, Creep!" (which was just Phyllis giving Weasel the middle-finger), the shot of Phyllis's intestines being pulled out, and the very short sequence of Krug cutting Mari's chest.
I still have the R-rated MGM "Movie Time" VHS. I should re-watch that sometime.
That Director/Producer commentary is incredible. It was so good, in fact, that it made me bored when I got around to sitting through Craven's Director/Producer commentary on The Hills Have Eyes a 2nd time.
Other than that commentary- I think all the old extras are on the newer disc. Am I wrong?

Nope, I think MGM got them from the new 3-disc UK Anchor Bay edition. Or vise versa.
It contains a 'Scoring Last House' featurette with Dave Hess. And some other docs that are differently titled then the 2002 disc. I can only assume that they're new.
