I use one of my pc disc drives to play Region 1 dvds, I dont really like watching dvds on my pc though, I may buy a region free dvd player at some point.

i think any Upconverter is region free .... HD is also WAS region free

HD is region free for HD only, they never released one that could be region free for DVD. And I would bet that there are a few upconverting players out there that aren't region free. You can look up your player here www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks to find out if it is remote hackable. Then you have to worry about PAL - NTSC conversion, which a lot of region free players won't do.

Mine is region free. Plays any type of Movie pretty much. I like it
